Inside the Police Reports: Dog Fight Ends with Gunshot, Arrest

When one neighbor fires her 32-caliber Raven, the dog fight ends, but more trouble for the other neighbor just begins.

If you don't want your dogs shot at, you probably should keep them in your yard.

Recently, one man learned this after his pit bulls ran into an adjacent neighbor's back yard and started a fight in the 800 block of Sunfield Drive.

According to a report, a female complainant shot into the ground next to the dogs after she caught them in her back yard in the morning of Sept. 16.

The woman told Lilburn police that she let her two dogs in the back yard, but quickly heard dogs fighting. When she looked out a window, the woman reported that "she observed her neighbor's two pit bulls in her back yard attacking her chows."

She retrieved a 32-caliber Raven handgun from her bedroom and headed straight for the back yard to stop the dog fight, according to the police report.

When one of the pit bulls bit the woman, she fired a round into the ground next to the pit bulls, and they then ran back into their own yard, the report stated.

When officers arrived they spoke with the owner of the pit bulls, a Carlos Morales, and a background check showed that he was wanted out of Gwinnett County for a probation violation.

So, instead of only getting the three citations related to animal violations, Morales also went to jail.

He was booked on a number of charges, including failure to appear, DUI and probation violation.
