Inside the Police Reports: Mother Has Sons Arrested for Damaging House

The Lilburn woman alleges that she came home from work and found a wall and many of the home's doors damaged by her two teenage boys, who were under the influence.

A Lilburn woman got her two sons arrested last week in connection to damaging her house while she was at work.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, authorities arrived at the home on the 2200 block of Dudley Ct. late one evening to check out the vandalism and speak with the mother.

She told police that she found the door to one of the upstairs bedrooms ripped off its frame and was broken in two pieces, and there was a large hole in the wall in the upstairs hallway. The door to the shed in the backyard had been kicked into pieces, too. Additionally, the solid wood door to the kitchen closet had "small chunks taken out" of it and the handle and lock had been ripped off.

She told police that she keeps the kitchen closet locked because her two sons, both 17, make a large mess every time they try to cook food.

Police spoke with the teens, Justin and Jordan Chance, who admitted to punching a hole in the wall and ripping the bedroom door off.

With the kitchen door, they explained that there was no food in the house so they broke the closet door with a hammer to get the food inside. The officer looked in the fridge and saw a large amount of food in there, though, which was pointed out to the kids.

As for the shed, the mother told police that she keeps it locked because she believes her sons go in there to smoke marijuana. Authorities checked it out and found a plastic container with several plastic bags and a brown blunt rap containing green leafy material with a marijuana-like odor.

Neither of the boys admitted to owning the items, but they had admitted to police that they kicked the door because they needed to get clothes from inside.

Authorities arrested and charged the Chance brothers for criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana.

After placing them in handcuffs, one of the brothers asked the officer if he could grab his shoes from his room since he wasn't wearing any. The officer found a nearly empty Corona beer bottle next to his bedroom closet, so the teen also was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.
