Inside the Police Reports: Scam Costs Woman $1,000 in Cash
A Lilburn woman became the victim of a scam making its way around the city, and police want the public to be aware.
Lilburn Police Department are looking for the person or persons responsible for a an Aug. 9 theft, similar to scams it recently warned the public about.
The female victim reported that she had just left the about 4:30 p.m., when she withdrew approximately $1,000. It was raining heavily, so the woman stated that she waited in her car for the rain to let up, according to a police report.
While in the car, a man in in grey, four-door pickup truck rolled his window down and asked her if he could follow her to make sure she got to her destination safely, according to a police report. The woman said she was fine, and just waiting for the rain to pass.

The man then told her that a tire on her car was having problems. The woman said that she left the bank and went to a local Wendy's restaurant, where she got out to check on the tire.
At that time, the police report stated that the man said he could take her to a mechanic. While the woman was getting back into her car, the unknown man reached into the passenger side and grabbed her purse -- full of her money, credit cards and other important contents.

The victim said there was a man and a woman in the grey, pickup truck.
All total, the victim lost $1,000 in cash, three credit cards, a wallet with $100 and a cell phone valued at $100.
Police are continuing to investigate.
