Inside the Police Reports: Trash Search Led to Pot Bust

Computer crimes, drugs and dog problems in this week's report.

Each week, Lilburn Patch takes a deeper look into recent crime reports from the Gwinnett and Lilburn police departments.

Trash, Marijuana, Guns and Convicted Felons: As two Gwinnett Police officers conducted a trash pull at the 600 block of Garner Road last month, they found a two green stems which tested positive for marijuana.

After obtaining a search warrant from a judge, a team of officers went back to the house this month and found three young men, 25, 21 and 19 (two of whom are brothers), in the living room, along with an orange pill bottle that contained marijuana.

In the kitchen, the green leafy material was also found on a book shelf and on top of the refridgerator. Razor blades, a scale, black plastic baggies and more marijuana were located on the kitchen counter.

Police found a rifle, with no serial number, in the bedroom of the eldest man, who is also a convicted felon. The master bedroom, which belongs to the 25- and 21-year-old's mother,  contained several glass pipes and more of the green leafy material.

The leafy material, which ended up weighing 4.8 ounces total, was confiscated and tested positive by using a field narcotic identification kit. The other items such as the scale and razor blades were taken in as evidence as well.

The three men were arrested and driven to jail. There is nothing in the report about if the mother was arrested or if she has any charges against her.

Dog Problems: A 36-year-old Snellville woman spoke with Gwinnett Police to tell of a domestic dispute while she was at her parents' house near Rockbridge Road in Lilburn.

She had lost control of her dog, and it had gotten into one of the neighor's yards. After going down there to try to retrieve the dog, the neighbor started yelling at her, which only prompted her to yell back. He called her "white trash" and she called him the "N" word.

At one point, she said, he threatened her by saying he was going to "hunt [her] ... and shoot you."

The woman said that threat actually started back in a February 2010 incident. She claimed the neighbor shot at her and her dog, which she had also reported to the police.

She inquired about obtaining a temporary protective order against the neighbor. Police has the incident listed under "simple assault."

You Called the Cops Because of a Facebook Hacker? A 21-year-old female met with Gwinnett Police earlier this month to report someone breaking into her email and Facebook accounts.

She told police that the hacker emailed multiple contacts through her accounts, but no other crimes were detailed in the report. She told police that she had recently sold her laptop to another female, whom she believes is the suspect, but doesn't understand how she could have gotten into her accounts since she had deleted all her history.

Police have the suspect's name and phone number listed in the report, but nothing further is known at this time. The report is being listed as a "computer crime."
