Inside the Police Reports: What Was He Doing in that Car?

Lilburn Patch takes a closer look at some crimes that have happened in town.

Each Friday, Lilburn Patch will take a deeper look into recent crime reports in Lilburn, reported by both the Gwinnett Police Department and the Lilburn Police Department.

Indecent Exposure in Walmart Parking Lot

-Two women made a complaint to Lilburn Police last Friday, Feb. 4, that a man was committing a sexual act while sitting alone in his car in a Walmart parking lot. The complainants told police that they parked next to his Toyota Camry and he just stared at them. The women told police that they went inside the store for 20 minutes, came back and noticed the man was still sitting in his car, except this time he had his pants off.

When police confronted the man at the Lawrenceville Highway Walmart, the officer noticed the man wasn't wearing any pants but he had tried to cover himself by throwing a pair of shorts over his legs. In addition, he grabbed a pair of jeans and held them in his lap while he talked with the officer, according to the police report.

The man denied the women's complaint. Police are still investigating the situation.

Pump and Run at Gas Station

- The CITGO on the 300 block of Rockbridge Road reported a gas drive-off last Friday, Feb. 4. The worker reported to Lilburn Police that a black male, around 17 to 20 years of age, drove up in a blue Chevy Lumina with a passenger, another black male but with dreadlocks. While the driver pumped gas, the passenger made a purchase inside the station, and when he returned, both left the gas station without paying for fuel.

Lilburn Police were able to obtain sufficient information on the vehicle to identify the VIN number and contact information of the registered owner whose last name is Mitchell. Police attempted to call the owner, and a male answered the phone. When police asked him if he was Mr. Mitchell, the male said he must have "had the wrong number." Police are still investigating the situation.

Credit Card Fraud Reported

- On Jan. 30, a man contacted Gwinnett Police to report a financial transaction fraud that had been made on his American Express credit card. The Sears department store had called the man to verify four charges that had been made to his American Express card via the Sears website since Jan. 29. The charges totaled  $5,500. He contacted his credit card company and discovered that other charges had been made that he did not authorize, including two transactions for $500 through PayPal. The man's American Express credit card has been cancelled, and there is no further information on who committed the transactions.

TV, Playstation Among Items Stolen

- A burglary was reported on the 4100 block of Wash Lee Court off Killian Hill Road. When Gwinnett Police arrived at his residence at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28, the homeowner told police that his television, Playstation 2, guitar and many other items were missing. Cabinets were opened and items were moved about, but police detected no sign of forced entry. The victim said that he noticed his back door and window were both open when he arrived home that evening, though, and he said he was unsure if the window had been locked.
