Lawrenceville Man Charged with DUI, Hitting Berkmar Student

A 20-year-old Lawrenceville resident is accused of hitting a Berkmar High student with his car.

Police charged a 20-year-old Lawrenceville man in connection with an incident Friday, when a Berkmar High student was hit while awaiting a school bus.

The man, Misael Pena-Larios is charged with: serious injury by vehicle, DUI (marijuana), improper driving and an improper right turn, according to police records.

According to media reports, Pena-Larios told police he smoked marijuana before the incident. In addition, there were field sobriety tests.

Pena-Larios was charged the morning of the accident on Sept. 28, and he was released the next day on an $11,250 total bond.

The injured Berkmar student, who was identified as 15-year-old Dominique,  O-Connor, sustained several injuries, but she is expected to recover, media reported.
