Police Warn of Scam Targeting Elderly

A scam mostly targeting elderly women is occurring throughout Lilburn.

The is warning the public about a scam targeting older residents, mostly women.

In the scam, the suspect pulls alongside the elderly woman driving, motions for her to roll down the window, tells her that one of her car tires needs air, and that he will assist with it, according to a Lilburn Police Department press release. 

Once the victim pulls over and rolls down her window, the suspect reaches in and grab the victim's purse. He and usually an accomplice, then drive away, the press release stated.

There have been three separate incidents reported to police over the past month. Sometimes the main suspect is seen with a woman.

Both suspect and passenger are described as white or Hispanic.

Police believe the suspect is driving a black or grey full-sized pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Ram.
