Lilburn Police Arrest Teen for Aggravated Child Molestation

The District Attorney's office is looking to try the 13-year-old as an adult.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation, according to officials at Lilburn Police Department.

Because of the nature of the crimes, the child is expected to be tried as an adult. Police say the female victim is also a juvenile.

Patch is not releasing the child suspect's name because of his age.

Investigators were alerted to the case "from a concerned family member who thought something might be going on," said Capt. Ben Haynes, of the Lilburn Police.

Warrants were issued for the suspect on Oct. 12, and he was charged with: aggravated child molestation (felony), two counts of aggravated sodomy (felony) and child molestation.

Haynes said it is believed the molestation happened over a period of time -- "not an isolated incident."

In these types of suspected cases, police want people in the community to definitely be their eyes and ears.

"Always reach out," Haynes said. "We'd rather them report it and find out there's nothing to it, than not to report it and there is something to it."

The suspect in this case is currently in a Regional Youth Detention Center.
