Lilburn Police Donates Bicycles to Goodwill

Eleven bikes were given to the donation center off Lawrenceville Highway.

The Lilburn Police Department recently donated 11 working bicycles to the local Goodwill center off Lawrenceville Highway.

The bikes, which vary in shape and size, were a result of a property and evidence purge at the city police department, according to a news release from Lilburn Police spokesman Capt. Thomas Bardugon. They had been turned in over several years, and the owners couldn't be located.

Following a court order to dispose of the bicycles, Police Chief Bruce Hedley decided to have them donated to a worthy cause rather than be destroyed or sold for scrap metal.

“It was an easy decision for me to offer these donations to those who would otherwise miss the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of cycling,” Hedley said.
