Lilburn Police Hire New Captain

The new hire comes with 26 years at the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The Lilburn Police Department has hired a new captain.

Capt. Thomas Bardugon comes to Lilburn with a long career in law enforcement, including most recently a major with the Gwinnett County Police Department. He served there for 26 years.

"Capt. Bardugon brings a wealth of command level experience and education with him as he starts his new career with the Lilburn Police Department," said Police Chief Bruce Hedley. "I am proud to have a man of his caliber join our winning team.

"I know the Lilburn Police Department and the citizens of Lilburn will benefit greatly from his vast knowledge of law enforcement operations."

Bardugon will be one of two captains within the Lilburn Police Department. He will be responsible for criminal investigations, special operations, training, and other major police functions.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in public administration, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Bardugon fills a spot left vacant by the departure of Ben Haynes, who resigned in February.
