Lilburn PD Investigates Disbelieving Odd Caller

A man called a Lilburn officer fake last week after the officer starting questioning him about making harassing phone calls.

According to the incident report, a 46-year-old Lilburn man alerted authorities after receiving odd calls from someone who identified himself as Roderick Saunders. 

During the first phone call, Saunders allegedly said he was with the "FID" and that he was going to have the local man arrested within 30 minutes. When asked why, Saunders said he didn't want to discuss the matter, but explained that the man had missed an IRS payment and wasn't cooperating.

Saunders called another time and advised that the man owed $1,307.69, which was to be paid in cash only. The victim said he was calling the police and the phone disconnected. 

He was able to give Lilburn police voicemails Saunders left along with his phone number, to which the officer called. Saunders accused him of not being a member of the authority and said he was tracking the phone number. He refused to answer any questions and repeatedly said he didn't deal with fake police officers before he hung . 

Police tracked his phone to a number listed out of Palm Beach, Fla., even though the area code belonged to a suburb of Pennsylvania. The case has been forwarded to the criminal investigations unit in Lilburn.
