Man Wanted for Intown Suites Homicide Caught in Mississippi

Philip Pugh will face murder and aggravated assault charges in the shooting death of Vincent Newsome.

Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith reported Philip Pugh, the man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at an extended-stay hotel, has been apprehended.

Smith said in an emailed press release there are no details on Pugh's arrest in Mississippi. "GCPD detectives are currently en route to Mississippi to meet with local authorities," Smith said in the email.

Pugh is wanted in the March 1 shooting of Vincent Newsome, 50, at Intown Suites, 4142 Stone Mountain Highway. Newsome was found lying in a second-floor breezeway with multiple gunshot wounds.

Arrest warrants for murder and aggravated assault have been issued for Pugh.
