Middle-Schooler Arrives Home, Finds Door Pried Open

Two residential burglaries in Lilburn were reported within half a mile of one another on the same day last week.

According to the Gwinnett County Police reports, one of the incidents was believed to have occurred one late afternoon on the 1100 block of Spring Mill Drive.

The homeowner told police that his 14-year-old daughter came home from Trickum Middle and left to go to Mountain Park Library nearby around 4:15 p.m. She arrived back at the house at 5:40 p.m. to find the door unlocked. Her dad told police that the door jammed and key lock area had been pried, and the wood was splintered.

The man believes entry hadn't been made into the residence's home since no personal belongings were missing.

Ihe other incident, which took place off the 1000 block of Garner Road, the victim believes an intruder came in any time from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 35-year-old told police that someone had kicked in the home's rear door. The suspect or suspects went through all the rooms, he said, but his HP laptop was the only item taken. The computer is valued at $1,200.
