Missing Lilburn Man Found Dead in South Cobb County

Edward Smith, 78, was found dead May 7 inside his truck in Mableton, Ga. His grandson is one of two people charged in his death.

Officials in Cobb County are reporting that a missing Lilburn man has been discovered dead inside his truck in Mableton.

In a South Cobb Patch report, the man was identified as 78-year-old Edward Smith, of Lilburn.

The man's grandson, Casey Collins, is one of two people being held on a felony murder charge in connection with his death. Sarah Cook, Collins' girlfriend, also is charged.

Both are being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, officials said.

Smith had not been seen since Thursday, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. He was reported missing on Sunday.

At approximately 8:18 tonight (May 7), Smith's body was found inside his truck at 365 Kemolay Road in Mableton, Pierce said.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
