Murder Trial Begins for Lilburn Man Suspected in Starlight Drive-In Shooting

Quentric Williams is charged with murder, among other counts, in the killing of a beloved martial arts expert.

The murder trial of a Lilburn man suspected of killing a martial arts expert a year ago began Tuesday before a DeKalb County jury.

Quentric S. Williams, 32, is charged with murder, in the death of 28-year-old martial arts expert Mitt Lenix. Police say Williams killed Lenix at the Starlight Drive-In Theater on Moreland Avenue in 2012.

On Tuesday, even Williams' own attorney said he was a convicted felon illegally carrying a handgun, led police on a high-speed chase and fired the fatal shot that killed Lenix, as reported in the AJC.

He was eventually captured in Duluth.

But, according to the AJC, defense attorney Russell Z. Hetzel said that the fatal shot was supposed to be a warning shot, and that Williams was protecting himself and his girlfriend.

Prosecutors said Lenix was only trying to find someone to help jump start his car, and was killed for it.

The trial continues.
