Operation 'Crackdown' Deemed a Success

The Gwinnett County Police Department arrested a number of suspects, took drugs of the streets, recovered stolen credit cards and more in a targeted sweep July 12-13.

More than 20 Gwinnett County officers participated in Operation "Crackdown" on July 12-13, targeting more than 100 subjects monitored by state probation and patrol units. 

The Georgia Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Units requested the special detail, which consisted of warrant services and compliance checks of active probationers and parolees, according to a press release from Gwinnett County police.

The state probation and parole unit provided 16 officers, along with two Department of Corrections K9 teams. Twenty two Gwinnett County Police Officers from "community response teams" volunteered to assist.

Results of the special detail are:

  • 32 locations checked
  • 9 probation and/or parole violations
  • 17 felony arrests
  • 4 misdemeanor arrests
  • 1 citation
  • 1 search warrant
  • 2 grams of meth
  • 464.5 grams of marijuana
  • 29 prescription pills
  • 2 stolen credit cards
  • 2 stolen Georgia identification cards
  • $1000.00 in United States currency

"This operation was a great success due in part of the working relationship between the two agencies," Gwinnett County police officials said in a press release.

"As a result, Chief (Charles) Walters is dedicated to maintaining this working relationship with Georgia Department of Corrections Probation and Parole and will make operations like this a regular occurrence within Gwinnett County."
