Police: Burglars Ram Car Into Lilburn Family Dollar

Surveillance video shows a black Lincoln town car driving into the store's glass front doors and two men emerging from it to try to gain access to a safe.

Police believe two men rammed a car into a Family Dollar in Lilburn last week in order to try to conduct a burglary.

According to the Lilburn Police report, the incident occurred around 11:18 p.m. last Monday (May 13) at the 5279 Lawrenceville Highway business. Police arrived to find the store's glass front doors broken and the frames damaged and loose on their hinges.

After meeting with the assistant manager at the scene, authorities were able to review video surveillance of the incident.

Footage shows a black Lincoln town car ramming into the front of the store in order to open the doors. The car backs up slightly, and then two men, the driver and front passenger, exit the vehicle and enter the business.

The driver finds the store's safe and attempts to pull the safe door open while the passenger stands by and watches. After no success, the two suspects leave the store without taking any property.

Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley told Patch that they have leads on suspects in the case, but have not made any arrests as of Wednesday (May 22). Other local police departments are working with Lilburn since there have been similar burglaries reported in the nearby area.

In the report, the officer described the suspects from the video as follows: The driver was a light-skinned black male who was dressed in all black and was wearing white gloves. He had what looked like a black sweater wrapped around his head. The other suspect had a medium black complexion and wore a gray shirt, dark pants and dark Nike tennis shoes. He also appeared to have a white shirt over his head and white socks on his hands.
