South Georgia Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident

Accident occurred Saturday in unincorporated Norcross.

Gwinnett Police are investigating a pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of a south Georgia woman Saturday night in unincorporated Norcross.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Buford Highway.

Police say Sherri D. Parker of Thomasville, Ga., was struck by a black 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee as she walked south on Buford Highway, just south of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Parker died at the scene.

According to a press release issued by Gwinnett Police, “It appears that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway in an area that does not have a marked crosswalk.”

The driver of the Jeep, Jesus Cruz-Colmenares, 22, has not been charged, but the investigation continues, according to police.
