Suspects Smash Windows, Empty Fire Extinguishers at Mountain Park Elementary

Inside the Police Blotter: The chemicals from the extinguishers were spread throughout the school.

A break-in was reported at Mountain Park Elementary earlier this month that involved suspects emptying fire extinguishers and smashing glass windows.

The incident occurred from 9:31 p.m. to 10:13 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, according to the Gwinnett County Police report. Officers met with Principal Valerie Robinett and the Gwinnett Fire Department, who advised that they received an alarm at the school.

They discovered that unknown suspects had broken the tempered glass at the rear door, entered the building and emptied three fire extinguishers, which had spread the chemical throughout the school.

The suspects tossed the empty extinguishers over a fence behind the school off Fox Forest Circle.

The principal told police that two previous incidents had taken place during this school year where the windows were smashed, but they weren't documented.
