Two Douglasville, Ga., women are facing charges of cruelty to a child stemming from a report they disciplined their 6-year-old son by locking him in a dog cage and pouring syrup and cat litter on him.

They also made him hold a brick over his head for 15 minutes, the Douglas County Sentinel reported. The boy apparently has psychological issues, according to police.

The Douglasville Police Department called the incident, “A disturbing case worked by investigators this week,” on its Facebook page

The mother, Crystal Jean Hostetter, 24, and her girlfriend Sarah Elizabeth McClain, 30, were in front of a Douglas County Magistrate Court judge Thursday for a bond hearing and to face the charges.

The newspaper reported the incident occurred Saturday and lasted for about two hours outside the couple’s residence on Hagin Street. Witnesses saw what happened and alerted authorities.

According to the arrest warrant, the boy’s hands and feet were covered with syrup, then cat litter. The dog cage was described as a little longer than a normal-sized cat litter box.

The boy apparently said during the discipline, “Please don’t kill me” and “Do you all love me?”

Douglasville Police Sgt. Todd Garner told the court the boy has psychological issues, and does not like sticky things, and the women knew that. Garner said the boy is supposed to be on medication, but Hostetter has not filled the prescription. He said, “I asked her, ‘You just think that you know more than the doctors?’ She said, yes.”

The extent of the boy’s psychological issues was not clear.

The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services went to the home Monday, and the couple apparently admitted to the accusations, according to the Sentinel. The child is staying at the home with an adult caregiver. The women are being held without bond in the Douglas County jail.

The couple reportedly moved from Pennsylvania to Douglasville at the beginning of March. DFCS is investigating to see if there were similar reports about the family in Pennsylvania.

before ya'll start the lynching a few things should be concidered. First we dont know much of the story. Even though this sounds rather unusal, What happend to bring this on? As far as the medications are concerned maybe they have reason for not drugging their kid. In todays society doctors love to force dangerous pills down kids throats and say they have mental issues. Meds should be a last resort instead of a easy fix and a quick buck. My kid was hyper and disruptive when little and the docs and school tried to put her on on drugs and i refused and told them to shove them. She graduated with a 4.0 gpa anyway. Next perhaps the child was abusing the family pet, a cat perhaps with syrup and cat litter? So just maybe they were trying to teach something. Remember that all disapline is disapproved of these days. If your kid started knifeing everyone down in sight and you smacked them and took the knife away they would probably arrest you for it, yet if a cop emptyed his gun in the kid he would be praised as a hero. My point here is this country is messed up and backward and I trust the justice dept and the media less than the nuts running other countries we dont like.

WHAT ABOUT THE CAT AND DOG THAT MIGHT LIVE THERE? DID ANYONE FROM THE ASPCA OR HUMANE SOCIETY CHECK THAT OUT? DOG CAGE AND CAT LITTER? HELLO? THE TWO SCUM BAG WOMEN WERE PROBABLY ABUSING ANIMALS WELL BEFORE THEY ABUSED THE POOR KID. I HOPE THERE ARE NO ANIMALS THERE AND THE KID GETS ALL THE LOVE AND HELP HE NEEDS.

There is a difference between discipline and torture. Discipline is quiet time for an hour, no TV, stand in the corner. Torture is locking a kid in a cage and pouring crap on him. These women are obviously psychotic and are not fit parents. No child deserves to be tormented no matter how "difficult" they are. And yes, I have a difficult child.
