Trees fell on two houses in Lilburn during Saturday night’s storms, according to Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services.

Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the heavy storms that moved across the area around 11 p.m. Saturday night caused trees to topple at 4083 John’s Street and at 1103 Hasty Court.

The downed tree at Hasty Court hit the garage and landed over the top of the house.

It's unclear if the trees were knocked down by wind or lightning. There was vivid lightning throughout the storm — and well into the early morning hours of Sunday — but the wind seemed to be less prevalent.

Rutledge reported two small fires were caused by lightning elsewhere in the county

A small fire was started in the master bedroom of a home on Gulfport Run in Grayson, and another started on the exterior of a house on Remembrance Trace in Lawrenceville.

Both fires were quickly extinguished and neither resulted in injuries or significant damage.
