Two Lilburn Street Robberies Reported

Inside the Police Reports: A man gets beaten and his wallet and sandals are stolen; another man gets a gun pulled on him.

Two street robberies were reported recently in Lilburn, one of them ending in facial wounds and a stolen wallet.

The first incident, which took place July 10 at 2:30 a.m., involved a 23-year-old man who was walking to his apartment complex, Westbury Springs Apartments, on the 4500 block of Burns Road.

The man told Gwinnett officers that he had almost reached his building when a thin black male ran up behind him and locked him in a choke hold.

The suspect then punched him the face multiple times, causing a cut on his nose, a swollen lip and a bloodied face, according to the report. When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect stole his wallet, which contained $280 in cash. His Abercrombie sandals, valued at $30, were also taken. The suspect ran off in the direction of Indian Trail Lilburn Road.

According to the victim, the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts, and he also had short hair, but nothing else was known about him.

Two days later at 10:30 p.m., another street robbery was reported down nearby on the 400 block of Pleasant Hill Road. The robbery was only attempted, though, as nothing was stolen from the victim.

According to the report, an 18-year-old male was riding his bicycle when a four men in a black Honda Civic pulled up next to him. The passenger in the front seat pointed a black handgun at the young man and said, "Give me your wallet."

The victim said he threw his bike at the vehicle and ran behind a nearby building. While hiding, he saw the Civic drive around so the suspects could find him, but they eventually drove off.

After calling police, the victim took refuge at National Tire and Battery nearby, and he sat there with the manager of the store.

The victim said the front passenger was black with dreads, the driver was white, and the backseat passengers were Hispanic. They all appeared to be in their 20s.

No further information was available on these two cases.
