The arrests came after a joint investigation that included Gwinnett and DeKalb county law enforcement. The arrests were made in Johns Creek, and police also served a search warrant in Snellville, according to Cpl. Jake Smith, a spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

After a day of inquiry, the two men were booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center Wednesday night. Dooley was booked at 9:54 p.m., and Booker was booked at 10:05 p.m.

Dooley was charged with three counts of armed robbery in Gwinnett County, three counts of possessing a weapon during a crime, and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Booker is also charged with three counts of armed robbery in Gwinnett County and three counts of possessing a weapon during a crime.

All the charges are felonies.

In addition, Dooley is being held for the North Carolina Department of Correction. Police are investigating the possibility of additional charges for these and other suspects, according to a press statement.

They are expected to have their first court appearance Thursday morning.

The FBI is not commenting on the investigation, said Stephen Emmett, a special agent with the FBI's Atlanta office.

There were a series of eight armed robberies, which began in fall of 2010, that police are investigating in connection with the duo. The three in Gwinnett County are:

  • A Bank of America robbery in Buford at the Mall of Georgia on November 11, 2010
  • A Wells Fargo in Centerville (Snellville area) on November 29, 2010
  • A Mall of Georgia heist, in which an armed guard shot at the suspects, on December 7, 2010.

In all three Gwinnett County robberies, police said that the guards were refilling ATMs. Gwinnett County police said the suspects would wait until the guards were outside their vehicles.

DeKalb County police are also investigating the suspects' connection with a robbery in the Toco Hill Shopping Center that left 32-year-old Gary Castillo dead.

A funeral service was held Monday morning in Canton for Castillo, who worked for Garda Cash Logistics. He was leaving the Kroger grocery store in the shopping center with a cash pick-up when he was shot by one of the robbers who fled in a getaway car with another man on March 15. He later died at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

According to the press statement, joint law enforcement efforts thwarted additional robberies planned, and affected agencies were being notified.
