Fire fighters were dispatched to the scene about 12:11 p.m. on Saturday. When crews arrived to the 700 block of Lake Drive, citizens were already trying to find the missing man.

The man, who was not a swimmer and was not wearing a life jacket, had taken a kayak out on the lake during a work break. He had been working with a crew building a boat deck at nearby home.

The 90-acre Norris Lake is located within a private, residential community between Gwinnett and DeKalb counties.
