Victim: Masked Men Barged Into Home, Beat Him With Tire Iron

Inside the Police Blotter: A man living off Old Manor Court told Lilburn Police that the men entered through the rear of his home, starting beating him and then rummaged through the basement.

A Lilburn man claims that two men went into his home last month, attacked him and then rummaged through his house.

According to the Lilburn Police Department report, the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Feb. 22 at the man's home on the 4900 block of Old Manor Court.

The homeowner, 36, was in his basement bedroom when the two men entered through the rear of his house, he told police. The men confronted him, and one of them struck him over the head with what he believes to be a tire iron.

After the attack, the suspects began rummaged through other areas of the basement. This gave the victim the opportunity to escape through the front door.

He ran toward another house on the street and flagged down his neighbor, who was in his yard speaking to a pest control consultant.

The neighbor told police that the victim was hysterical and bleeding profusely. As he spoke to the victim, the neighbor saw two men run across the cul-de-sac and through the woods. He then saw a red Ford F-150 pickup truck driving away at a high rate of speed.

The victim, who was transported to the hospital because of his injuries, told police that the suspects took his cell phone and his wallet. The wallet was found later in the home.

Police cleared the home and found a large amount of blood in the basement and the back door ajar. A perimeter also was set up around the home and a K-9 was brought out to assist in the investigation. The dog found a scent through the woods but lost the track in the cul-de-sac.

According to the witness and victim, the men were wearing all black clothing and ski masks. Two of the their other neighbors told police that they did not hear or see anything usual during the incident time.
