Video: New Lilburn Police Chief Takes Oath

Bruce Hedley was sworn in before Monday's City Council meeting.

With family members and several law-enforcement representatives on hand, Bruce Hedley was sworn in as Lilburn's police chief Monday before the monthly City Council meeting in the auditorium.

Mayor Diana Preston said it was "an honor, privilege and delight" to install Hedley before she administered the oath of office.

Hedley, who joined nearly three years ago after serving 20 years with the Atlanta Police Department, called his move to the his hometown's police force the "best professional decision I ever made."

Hedley, 45, replaces former chief John Davidson, who parted ways with the city around six weeks ago.
