Here are some strange activities that police encountered in Northeast Georgia recently.

Bad roommate: Two Lilburn-area men said their roommate had been high on meth for six days, which probably explained his behavior. They claimed the roommate stole some of their possessions, broke into their cars and shattered one of the vehicle’s windows. Gun shots they heard early one morning was probably him, too, they said.

Riled over a reptile: The discovery of a snake in a Snellville-area health-care center did more than startle the employees. A woman who was visiting her ailing mother and one of the facility’s nurses reportedly argued after the incident. No big deal, until the nurse was later overheard saying, "We will see what [that woman] has to say in the parking lot," according to the police report. The woman said she felt threatened, but the nurse denied threatening her. No arrests were made.

A bad way to hail a cab: This is why you should call a taxi when you’ve had too much to drink. A Clarkston man faces numerous charges — including DUI — after he broad-sided a taxi cab in an Athens intersection. The wreck injured two passengers in the cab.

When you gotta have Waffle House: A Buford man, who faces a DUI charge, told police he woke up hungry and was headed to Waffle House — that's why he was driving so fast. On his way, he passed a police checkpoint doing 70 mph in a 40 mph speed zone.

Stay classy, backpage.com: Undercover DeKalb County vice officers used a personal ads website for a recent prostitution arrest in Lithonia. A detective set up a meeting with a woman after finding her ad on backpage.com, which stated, "Sexy, Classy/Insane Lips, $100.00 an hour." According to the police report, the detective told the woman, “You look different than the pictures on the backpage."

Peeping Toms come crashing down: A Suwanee man and his cousin were arrested after their attempt to peer into the women’s restroom at a Duluth-area theater failed miserably. They reportedly crawled through the ceiling in the men’s bathroom and over the women’s room, then crashed through the ceiling onto the floor. “Just being stupid,” one of the men told police. No word on whether any women were in the restroom at the time of the incident.

All he wanted was meth: A man, who entered a Snellville home and refused to leave, told police all he wanted to do was to smoke some meth. Turns out he had been wanted in connection with the assault of a woman at the same Snellville residence in April. The homeowner said the man broke a garage-door window and kicked in the front door before police arrived. The meth man yelled at police that he would rather be shot or tazed than be arrested again. But once police threatened to send in a K-9 dog to remove him, he came out with his hands up.

You can’t hide: A Loganville couple used the GPS tracker on their stolen mobile phone to locate the thief. That’s when the husband sent a text message: "The phone has been reported as stolen to GCPD, it has a tracking device on it and the police were tracking it." The phone was turned off a moment later.

Burglar repellent: A University of Georgia student had an effective way to ward off burglars — show up at the front door carrying a Marlin rifle.

Blame it on beer pong: A Buford woman was arrested and charged with DUI and other offenses following a party. She said she waited an hour to sober up before leaving the party. But that wasn’t long enough to overcome the effects of the five beers she drank playing beer pong.
