Are Your Neighbor's Christmas Lights Still Up?

City of Lilburn residents have until Friday to take down holiday lights and recycle Christmas trees.

Christmas has come and gone, but if your holiday lights are still up, you have just a few days left to take them down in the City of Lilburn.

City Code says holiday lights must be taken down by January 31, or this Friday. The city says the wires on outdoor holiday lights degrade and could become a hazard. Holiday lights may go up on Nov. 1 and must be taken down by the end of January, as the National Electric Code says the festive lighting is only good for 90 days.

Friday is also the last day you may drop your Christmas tree off to be recycled. Undecorated trees may be delivered to the City of Lilburn's Maintenance Shop at 107 Railroad Ave.
