Bryson Park Ready for Visitors

Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newest park in Gwinnett County.

Lilburn, and other Gwinnett County residents, now officially have a new park to visit.

Bryson Park, located at 5075 Lawrenceville Highway, encompasses 72 acres of new facilities. And, local and county officials cut the ceremonial ribbon to the park on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

At the ceremony, members of the Gwinnett County police and sheriff's departments presented colors. Samantha Abreu, a student at Meadowcreek sang the National Anthem, according to Nazanin Weck, marketing coordinator for Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation.

A special grand opening will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 10 a.m.

Bryson Park Facts:

  • The park includes 72 acres in total, featuring a football/multi-purpose field with lighted track, two youth soccer fields, a sand volleyball court, outdoor basketball courts, a playground, pavilion, and a half-mile paved, multi-purpose trail.
  • The park property was purchased with SPLOST funds to increase the recreational opportunities for county residents.
  • Bert Nasuti, a former Gwinnett County commissioner, and Jack Bolton, a two-term Gwinnett County Recreation Authority board member and former Lilburn mayor, played key roles in acquiring the land for the park.
  • Nearly 30 youth athletic associations partner with the county to help pay some of the operating and maintenance costs for the parks they use.
