Code Orange Unhealthy Air Alert Issued for Metro Atlanta today
Gwinnett and counties are included in the area that will be under a Code Orange unhealthy air alert
The National Weather Center at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday issued a Code Orange unhealthy air alert for Thursday, June 2. The Metro Atlanta area, including Walton and Gwinnett counties, is in the alert area.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, environmental protection division, issues a Code Orange alert through the National Weather Center when the air has been deemed to be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Under Code Orange conditions, the air is likely to be unhealthy for some people such as children or people who are sensitive to Ozone. People with heart or lung disease are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when Ozone concentrations are highest.
