Election 2012: Decision Day Arrives in Lilburn, Gwinnett County

Polls open at 7 a.m. TSPLOST and State Senate District 9 matters are being decided. Share your thoughts.

The 2012 primary elections are here.

Voting is at county precincts. If you don't know where to go, the Secretary of State's voters page has a list of precincts.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on July 31. Results will be available on the Secretary of State’s Georgia Elections Results webpage on election night.

Several key matters on the ballot concern the Lilburn area:

  • State Senate District 9: This is Se. Don Balfour's seat. He is the longest-serving Republican in the state Senate. He draws competition from three contenders: , and . Ramey, Bowden and Balfour are Republicans, and the winner of that primary will compete against Drake, a Democrat, in November.

  • TSPLOST: The transportation referendum is controversial everywhere. And, in Lilburn drew a packed crowd of citizens both for and against it. shows most are against it, however Gov. Nathan Deal -- together with Mayor Kasim Reed -- have bonded to show solidarity in favor of TSPLOST.
  • Casino gambling: Possibly affected would be the proposed gambling facility in Gwinnett County.
