Eternal Flame, Main Street Improvements on City Council Agenda

Monday's Lilburn City Council meeting is first of 2011.

The Lilburn City Council has a busy agenda planned tonight for its first meeting of 2011. The 7:30 p.m. meeting at is the first of the new year, because January's meeting was cancelled by wintry weather and was not rescheduled.

Among the new business:

-The Council will consider a possible agreement with Atlanta Gas Light to relocate, design and construct a new Eternal Flame Monument to honor the city's veterans. The previous monument had problems staying lit and was snuffed out last year.

-The Council is expected to make a motion to purchase two properties on Church Street from the Downtown Development Authority (at a cost of around $387,000) as part of the planned realignment and construction of a new Main Street entrance to Old Town.

-Approval of various appointments to commissions and boards.

At a 6:30 p.m. work session, the Council will discuss Main Street improvements and improvements to the Killian Hill-Arcado road intersection.
