Welcome to election Tuesday. Here are some things to know as you head into the day and to the polls.

On the ballot: Lilburn voters today will decide on a mayor and two council members. Click here for Patch's voter guide if you're still undecided. City voters will also decide whether alcohol can be sold on Sundays. County and city voters need to go to their usual county voting precincts to vote on whether to extend

The weather: Perfect. What, you want more? Ok: It'll be sunny, with a high of 71, the National Weather Service says. The low tonight will be around 46 degrees.

Gas prices: The average for a gallon of regular in Georgia is $3.314, according to AAA, and nationally it's $3.407. Prices reported to www.georgiagasprices.com for the past 24 hours ranged from $3.09 (at Shell, 490 Pleasant Hill Road at Burns) to $3.32 (at Citgo, 1218 Turner Road at Five Forks Trickum).

Rock on! It's big, it's fast and it's due to zip past closer than the Moon. An aircraft carrier-sized asteroid named 2005 YU55 is due to fly past Earth today, the closest pass by a space rock this big since 1976. NASA says it's not hazardous, and scientists are excited at the chance to a get a closer look. Check this link for tips on spotting the visitor.

After all, today is another birthday: Novelist and newspaperwoman Margaret Mitchell was born on this day in 1900 in Atlanta. She was a feature writer for the Atlanta Journal when she began work on "Gone With the Wind" while stuck at home recovering from a broken ankle. It was published to much fanfare in 1936 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and sell more than 30 million copies.
