Fred Johnston, Former Georgia Deputy Insurance Commissioner, Dies at 64

Fred E. Johnston will be laid to rest April 2.

Fred E. Johnston, age 64 of Lilburn, GA passed away April 2, 2013. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Johnston and his father-in-law, Delbert Drum and is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia Johnston; son, Brad Johnston; mother, Edith Johnston; mother-in-law, Eloise Drum; brother, Daniel and Marilyn Johnston; numerous cousins and many loving relatives and friends. 

Fred contracted polio at the age of nine months. While at Warm Springs, Ga., he was chosen as the March of Dimes poster child, the youngest chosen at the time. He spent much of his childhood at Warm Springs. Later, Fred was an Eagle Scout.

He graduated from Georgia State University with BBA degree as an accounting major. He received his Juris Doctorate from Atlanta Law School and also became a CPA. Fred retired from the State of Georgia as Deputy Insurance Commissioner at the age of 42. For the past 23 years, Fred has been self-employed as an attorney and CPA. 

A Funeral Service Honoring the Life of Fred E. Johnston will be held Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will be held at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be viewed or sent to www.wagesfuneralhome.com.
