Lilburn Election Qualifying Period Begins

Mayor Diana Preston qualified today to seek reelection, and three have qualified to run for city council seats.

The qualifying period for Lilburn city elections began Monday, Aug. 29 and will run through Friday, Sept. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The mayor's position and two city council seats, now held by Johnny Crist and Scott Batterton, will be filled by the November elections.

Batterton said he qualified at noon Monday to run again for his council seat, Post 2, and Porter Deal also qualified to run for that seat, according to City Clerk Kathy Maner.

Thomas Wight today qualified for Post 1, the seat now held by Crist, Maner said.
