Lilburn Lawmaker Calls it Quits, Takes New Job in Maine

Rep. Brian Thomas (D-Lilburn) recently announced his resignation as a Georgia lawmaker to take a position in Maine.

Thomas, who represented House District 100, was first elected to this current position in 2004. He will be leaving to become the national director of Cultural Resources Services for Natural Resources Group, according to the Gwinnett County Democratic Party's website.

"We are proud of the job Brian has done representing working families for not just Gwinnett but the entire state," Gwinnett Democrats said. "His leadership and dedication will be missed."

When there is a vacancy in the Georgia General Assembly, the governor must call for a special election to fill the spot, according to the Secretary of State's website.
