Lilburn's Gloria Tow in High Spirits at Republican National Convention

The Republican National Convention begins, and a Lilburn resident and delegate is ready for all the week's activities.

TAMPA, FL — Gloria DiMaggio Tow couldn't wait to get inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Tuesday and check out the festivities surrounding the Republican National Convention.

The Lilburn resident and Gwinnett County Republican Party member said she's been involved in politics since age 10 and is attending her 10th convention, but she's particularly fired up about this year's election.

"It's the most important in my 65 years," Tow said.

Tow and a handful of other Georgia delegates were hustling through downtown Tampa to get to the RNC venue for the start of Tuesday's events, cutting through parking lots and around chain-link fences set up for security. They had skipped the opening day Monday after the schedule was abbreviated due to the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac.

"I wouldn't have worn these shoes if I knew we'd have to do this much walking" Tow said.

Joining Tow as a guest was Dacula Patch political blogger Vanessa Green, who said she was looking forward to an appearance on an Internet talk radio show later Tuesday night.
