Safety Upgrades Near Trickum Middle School Approved

A new sidewalk and turn lanes on Killian Hill Road are some of the improvements approved by the Gwinnett County Commissioners Tuesday.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved safety upgrades in the area of Trickum Middle School Tuesday.

The improvements include adding dual left turn lanes from Arcado Road onto Killian Hill Road, a new sidewalk and a 1,300-foot right turn lane on the north side Killian Hill turning into the school.

The county will also work on drainage improvements in the area, traffic signal upgrades and timing, new curb and gutter and striping as part of the project.

“We combined these two projects to avoid multiple disruptions as we work to improve school safety in this area,” said Kim Conroy, Gwinnett’s transportation director in a release.

The low bid for the project is $979,352 from Baldwin Paving Co. Money for the roadwork will come from 2009 SPLOST program funds.
