Crist Next Mayor of Lilburn; Alcohol Sales Pass

Johnny Crist finished 169 votes ahead of incumbent Diana Preston, according to unofficial election results.

Johnny Crist was the people's choice for Lilburn mayor in Tuesday's election.

Crist garnered 745 votes, according to unofficial results. Diana Preston had 565.

Thomas Wight finished ahead of Teresa Czyz for council post 1, and incumbent Scott Batterton held onto his post 2 seat with a big margin.

Voters gave Sunday alcohol sales the nod, with 708 in favor and 394 against.

Here are the results, which still must be certified:

Johnny Crist  734
Diana Preston-Incumbent  565

Post 1
Teresa Czyz  584
Thomas Wight  626

Post 2
Angel Alonso  252
Scott Batterton-Incumbent  518
Kay Bennett  210
Porter Deal  286

Poll superintendent Kathy Maner said the results need to be certified because two people voted who were not on the list of registered voters.

"We need to find out what we can find out about those two people."

The unofficial results weren't announced until about 2:30 a.m. because of the problem poll officials had in trying to verify those two voters. That delayed the start of the count until about midnight.
