There are several activities coming soon that you may not want to miss.

Spring is the time for many events in cities around Gwinnett County, and Lilburn is no different.

See the list below for activities and other interesting happenings in the neighborhood.

Lilburn Relay Rally -- April 26, 2013

This annual fundraising and cancer awareness event takes place this coming . Monies raised supports the American Cancer Society through Gwinnett County Relay for Life, which is held in May. If you would like to get involved, there's still time. Interested persons can join up until Friday. So far teams have raised more than $12,000.

Great American Clean Up -- April 27, 2013

The city of Lilburn will have its annual "Great American Clean Up" event this Saturday, April 27. From 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Lilburn residents can recycle and dispose of bulk residential trash at city hall's overflow parking lot, 76 Main Street. As part of the clean-up efforts, the city will be accepting old cell phones to donate to Zoo Atlanta's "Call4Gorillas Partner Program." Also, residents can donate clean towels and washcloths to the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. For more on this event, click here.

Arcado Fun Run -- April 28, 2013

Arcado Elementary School will be holding its 17th annual fun run, Sunday, April 28, beginning at 1 p.m. Pre-race events, including on-site registration starts at 1 p.m. The 1K race starts at 2 p.m. with the 5K race starting immediately after. In addition to water and food for race participants, there also will be entertainment. The event is sponsored by the Arcado PTA. If you want to join, or volunteer. Contact Jennifer Bullock at funrun@arcadopta.org. Important note: This race will affect traffic. Use caution when traveling the area.

Women's S.A.F.E. Event -- April 30, 2013

Gwinnett County crime prevention officers are offering S.A.F.E. training to women 13 years of age and older. S.A.F.E. stands for Self-defense Awarness and Familiarization Exchange. The event takes place 6 p.m. - 8 pm., Tuesday, April 30, at the south precinct department, located at 2180 Stone Drive in Lilburn. In the two-hour training women will learn ways to stay safe, as well as practice physical aspects of self-defense. Pre-registration is required, and the class is limited to 20 ladies. (If the class becomes full, be sure to ask about any future crime prevention events, or about how you can get officers to come speak to your organization, or group.)

Lilburn Community Garden

The grand opening of the garden was April 20. Contact the community organizers for more information on you can become involved. Click here for the group's website.

Lilburn Arts Alliance

The alliance continues to create opportunities for the community to experience art. Generally, monthly art and entertainment mixers are held. Check out the group's Facebook page to stay up to date.

City of Lilburn Garage Sales

Here are the remaining dates for the city garage sale: May 18, June 22, September 14 and October 19. Submit applications at Lilburn City Hall. For more information, contact Rozalyn Schmitt at 770-638-2225 or rschmitt@cityoflilburn.com.

Lilburn Farmers Market -- June through August 2013

This will be the market's fourth season. Vendor and nonprofit applications are already being taken. Check out the market's website, or contact the organizers at lilburnfarmersmarket@hotmail.com.

National Night Out -- August 6, 2013

This community safety event will be held 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on August 6 at the Lilburn City Parh. SafetySmart Lilburn works in conjunction with the Lilburn Police Department and the city of Lilburn to create a fun evening that includes safety information from different aspects of life. Registration for exhibitors will be available soon. Check the SafetySmart Lilburn website.

Lilburn Daze -- October 12, 2013

This activity happens in the fall, but vendor applications are already being taken. Apply and send registration fee in before August 1, 2013. Click here for the Lilburn Daze website.
