Berkmar Strikes Again: One Win Away from Region 8-AAAAA Title
Three first-half goals lead to 3-2 win over South Gwinnett.
Berkmar's season to remember took one more step closer to a Region 8-AAAAA championship Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over South Gwinnett in a boys soccer game at Berkmar.
Oscar Lievano scored two goals and Ernesto Cardenas scored the third as the Patriots took a 3-0 halftime lead, then held off the Comets the rest of the way.
Berkmar, ranked No. 4 in the state by eurosportscoreboard.com, raised its record to 12-1-1 overall, 7-0 in 8-AAAAA.

The Patriots will win the region championship with a win over Dacula April 19 at Berkmar.
Berkmar is off until after the spring break when it hosts Campbell April 12 and travels to Meadowcreek April 13 in two non-region games before taking on Dacula.
