Education SPLOST: What It Means for Your School
If approved by voters tomorrow, the penny sales tax is expected to bring in as much as $858.9 million for Gwinnett County Public Schools, and improvements are planned for all Lilburn-area schools.
Gwinnett County voters will decide Tuesday, Nov. 8, whether to extend the one-cent sales tax that will benefit public schools in the county.
If approved, it will be the fourth E-SPLOST, or Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for education, and it will raise an estimated maximum of $858.9 million dollars for Gwinnett County schools and $17.1 million for Buford City Schools.
By law, the revenue can be used for capital projects such as school construction, technology and school buses. It cannot be used to fund day-to-day operations.
