A former Brookwood Bronco and GCPS mentors are bringing a special program to the area to help young men focus on future career options.
Rennie Curran, an NFL free agent who graduated from Brookwood High School in 2007, will be among the speakers, confirmed James Rayford, director of academic support at Gwinnett County Public Schools.
The district's Community-Based Mentoring program is organizing the career summit, which takes place 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Feb. 23, at Brookwood High School in Snellville. Students are welcome from any area in Gwinnett County.
However, there is a registration maximum of 150 students. Registration for the event ends Feb. 20.
Young men attending are asked to "dress for success," which means a suit, shirt and tie, or business casual attire.
Students will learn about careers in: medicine, law enforcement, business, technology and entrepreneurship. Lunch will be provided.
After the workshop, students will learn about colleges, businesses and community organizations.
