Lilburn Elementary Reads For The Record

Students at Lilburn Elementary School took nationwide effort to promote reading.

Thursday was Read for the Record day. This annual event began in 2006 as a partnership between Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation. Students and classrooms all across the nation are trying to break the world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day.

Last year, a world record was set with more than 2.3 million reading Ladybug Girl by Jacki Davis in one day.

This year, Janie Haselden's kindergarten class is joining the challenge by reading Otis by Loren Long. Gwinnett County schools had the option to either read the book or follow along with a video presentation of the reading.

There's still time to join this world record breaking event. Click here to find out how.
