Lilburn Student Science Projects Headed to State Competition

The work of students from Parkview High and Trickum Middle schools is among the 63 projects from Gwinnett County.

The Lilburn area will be represented this week at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, as five students from local schools will compete.

The state science fair takes place March 21-23 in Athens.

  • Cynthia Andrade, Meadowcreek High School, Project: "How does personality affect memory?"
  • Aprotim Cory Bhowmik, Parkview High School, Project: "Hemodynamic Interactions in Arterial Networks with Atherosclerosis"
  • Abhiramgopal Akella, Five Forks Middle School, Project: "Biofuels VS. Fossil Fuels"
  • Aleksander Lucy, Trickum Middle School, Project: "Acid, Lead and Leaches, Oh my!"
  • Judy Liu, Trickum Middle School, Project: "Sunshine on a penny: A Strategy to Capture Solar Energy"

A total of 63 projects from 25 different Gwinnett County middle and high schools will be presented. The proects are the work of 83 students.

Through these projects, the middle and high school students earned first place at the Gwinnett County Regional Science and Engineering Fair in February.
