Local Students Receive UGA Charter Scholarships

Award is given to high-achieving incoming freshmen.

Several Lilburn-area students have been awarded the Charter Scholarship by the University of Georgia. All are incoming freshmen at UGA.

The award provides $1,000 in addition to the HOPE Scholarship to incoming freshmen with “stellar academic records, leadership and community involvement, and a respect for and commitment to intellectual, social and cultural diversity,” according to a press release.

The scholarship is named in honor of the university’s distinction as the nation’s first state-chartered public university.
