Parkview graduate Merin Joshy won a Comcast Foundation Leaders and Achievers Scholarship, one of three area students selected for the stipend, the foundation said.

The scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award, given to students who "represent some of the best and brightest high school seniors" who are also involved in their communities, said Andy Macke vice president of government and community affairs for Comcast's Atlanta region.

Allie Schureck, a Brookwood High School graduate, and Teman Worku from Shiloh High School also received the scholarship.
