Parkview Rallies, Forces Game 3

Panthers score seven in the fifth to split at Colquitt County.

Parkview rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Colquitt County 8-4 Monday and force the deciding third game in the Class AAAAA baseball semifinal series in Moultrie.

The Panthers (26-9), who lost 3-0 in Monday’s opener, sent 10 players to the plate in the fifth to turn around what had been a 4-1 deficit.

Five of the runs came after two outs, including a two-run triple by Ryan Blanton and a two-run home run by Jack Esmonde for the final four runs.

Jeff Ronprin’s two-strike, two-out single tied the game at 4-4. Matt Olson (sacrifice fly) and Travis Naraine (single) also knocked in runs in the rally.

Josh Hart singled and scored in the first inning for a 1-0 Parkview lead, before Colquitt (22-13) inched out to a 4-1 lead.

Colquitt pitcher Cole Pitts tossed a three-hitter and added a home run in the opener, the first time Parkview had been shut out this season.

Game 3 of the series is scheduled Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Moultrie.
