Parkview ROTC Dedicates Obstacle Course to Fallen Comrade

"The Griz" was dedicated to Pete Griswold, a 1981 Parkview High School graduate.

Parkview High School Marine Corps JROTC dedicated a newly completed physical training field Tuesday, a full-scale Marine Corps obstacle course, to the memory of Parkview graduate Pete Griswold, a marine who lost his life defending our country.

Called "The Griz," the course was "built by the cadets with a great deal of community support," said Linda Nealy, vice president of the  Parkview MCJROTC Booster Club.

The training field will be used for all cadets, male and female, to develop physical fitness and confidence, Nealy said.

"At Parkview, we're very fortunate to have a Marine Corps Junior ROTC unit, and it's dedicated to leadership and team work," said Parkview Principal David T. Smith. "And the obstacle course is certainly a testament to that."
