Parkview Students Rank High On National Spanish Exam

4 of the 10 GCPS Students earning top scores are from Parkview High

 In a press release Monday, The Gwinnett County Board of Education announced that it will honor 10 Gwinnet students for their accomplishments on the 2012 National Spanish Exam. Four students placed First in Georgia; three are from Parkview. There were six 2nd Place winners with one being from Parkview.

Congratulations to:

  • Camila Diaz Borquez, a 9th grader from Parkview High, who took the exam in the Bilingual Category, for her first place in the Level 2 National Spanish Exam.
  • Sam Helmey, a 12th grader from Parkview High received first on the Level 3 National Spanish Exam.
  • Tami Feng,  a 12th grader from Parkview High for first place on the Level 3 National Spanish Exam
  • Karl Broughton,  an 11th grader from Parkview High for his second place on the Level 3 National Spanish Exam

Other students who placed were: David Velez Arce – an 11th grader from Archer High (1st, Level 6), Allison Fisher – an 11th Grader from Norcross (2nd, Level 4), Robert Hensey – an 11th grader from Norcross (2nd, Level 4), Shushmita Hoque- 12th grader from Brookwood (2nd, Level 4), Radha Patel – 12th Grader from Brookwood (2nd, Level 5), and Clara Wang – 9th Grader from Norcross (2nd, Level 2).

In addition to these top 10, the scores of  another 28 foreign language students placed them among the top 10. Students who placed 1st through 6th in the state received medals and certificates from the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), which sponsors the National Spanish Exam.
